"It is what it is"
The Kenney Store has live music almost every night of the week. Check our calendar for details. If you are lucky, a few well-known singers may stop by dressed with a fiddle or acoustic guitar. On the weekends, we always have a full house including uprising bands, acoustic performances, and local celebrities. Come early and get a good seat. Slam down some dominoes with the regulars, while the freight train blares by. Waltz, two-step, line-dance, swing, or even grind to live music under the neon lights.
For many years, Thursdays were known for The Kenney Store Rural Music Association (KARMA). Local muscians young and old brought their instruments to the pickin' circle. They were not a band, just dedicated musicians that came for the love of music and good company. These musicians are the reason that there is always good KARMA at the Kenney Store.
Now, to honor the tradition, we have hand picked local artists to come play an acoustic show every Thursday night. Note this is not karaoke or open mic night. This is a showcase of the locals we love. Come discover unplugged, unfiltered live... TRUE music.
Tony and Rita Krueger bought The Kenney Store on February 26, 2013 at 10:00 am and opened it up on the same day at 3:00 pm. They jumped in headfirst and have not looked back. In the beginning, their goals were to add music as a driving force to the business. They added a full kitchen to provide food for their patrons.
In 2016, construction began to remodel the bathrooms and add another dinning room. They transformed the out back into a 10,000 square foot outdoor area with outdoor seating, stage, and porches. With the new changes came a FULL bar and liquor license. The Krueger's also began offering catering services.
In Spring 2018, they ventured 35 miles down the road to set up shop for 2 weeks at the Warrenton Antique Fair.
Most recently, they purchased Back Porch Pecan Pies from Reesa Ueckert. Kenney Store Back Porch Pies coming soon yall!
With all these changes one thing will always stay the same... customers are always treated like family. If you are looking for a place to enjoy great music and even better people, stop by and say hello. Tony and Rita will be there to welcome you with a warm smile and a cold beer.
